The Challenge Bowl Canadian Finals will be held during GeoConvention 2026.
The CSEG-Foundation Challenge Bowl is an action-packed geoscience quiz game for geological and geophysical CSEG student members. (Student membership in the CSEG is free of charge.) This intense competition is a fast-paced Jeopardy-style game where two-member teams attempt to buzz in with answers to challenging geoscience questions. All geoscience students are encouraged to participate in this unique event, which combines knowledge, competition, and fun.

This event is free to attend, and there is no registration fee for teams. Team registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register promptly to secure your spot. Don’t hesitate!
Representing East Coast Canada are two “Hard Rock” geologists, Charbel Abow-Khalil and Eric Bechaud, from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Representing Western Canada are also two “Hard Rock” geologists, Abby Wawrykow and Jessica Kristof, from the University of Manitoba. The winning team members will receive $2500 CAD each to attend the SEG Global Finals at IMAGE in Houston, Texas, during August 17 – 20, 2026, providing a valuable opportunity for professional development and networking.
