Invitation letters are only issued to paid delegates or presenters; please purchase your delegate pass prior to requesting a letter. If processing times are such that you need this letter before registration is open, please note “pending” in the “Registration number” field. If you are not presenting a paper, please indicate “N/A” in the “Abstract ID” field. If there are any issues with your admission to Canada, your fees will be returned.
Please note that we will only issue invitation letters and cannot help with your application or with border services. It is your responsibility to apply for the appropriate visa with the appropriate documentation. We suggest leaving ample processing time for your entry visa. Current processing times can be found at the Government of Canada Immigration page.
Please note the following:
- Visa applications are considered on a case-by-case basis based on the information presented by the applicant. The onus is on the applicant to show that they meet the requirements for a temporary resident visa.
- While a special event code has been assigned to your letter, it does not offer any advantage to the applicant, in terms of a positive visa outcome.
- The applicant must meet all the eligibility criteria in order to receive a visa.
- GeoConvention provides a list of confirmed registrants to IRCC to show intent on attending; applying for letter without confirmed registration is not advised.
